Sports Injuries

Why do injuries happen?

Dr. Jeremiah Jimerson

IT’S NOT JUST A MATTER OF TREATING SYMPTOMS, BUT SOLVING YOUR WHY

Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!

-Do you have pain during your sport?

-Do you have pain that prevents you from doing your sport?

-Do you wish could stop getting injured during your sport?

-Are you looking to improve the performance of your sport?

Dr. Jimerson has worked with the Buffalo Bills as well as thousands of athletes in the Charleston area including runners, triathletes, tennis players and golfers, baseball players, dancers and more. He’s worked as a treating physician at the Ironman Triathlon races, local Sprint Series Triathlons as well as College of Charleston’s track and field team.

If you’re looking to resolve your sports injury or increase your sports performance, you might need to see Dr. Jimerson.

Dr. Jimerson focuses on the biomechanical and neurological causes of pain and performance.

Just like any injury, sports injuries have a root cause and that root cause most often isn’t exactly where the pain actually is.

If you have knee pain when doing your sport, the actual root cause of the issue could be coming from your ankle, hip, spine or even toe joints.

Most therapists zoom in on the painful areas without determining why the pain started in the first place.

Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem

The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.

The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.

After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Dr. Jeremiah is my go to for my patients when all else fails

Dr. Robert Schoderbeck – Orthopedist

Dr. Jimerson is OUTSTANDING! As a clinician myself, I appreciate his direction and encouragement… but mostly the RESULTS!

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist

Dr. Jimerson looks at the athlete’s body as a whole and evaluates all of the biomechanics of the body from tight and weak muscles to nerves, jaw muscles, eyes, breathing patterns and even tongue positioning. All of it plays a role in the function of an athlete in performance and pain.

Typical treatments for athletic injuries include mindless stretching, foam rolling, seeing Charleston Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists and Orthopedists.

But for instance, did you know that you may not need to stretch your hamstrings as much as you need to engage your core muscles? And that your jaw is related to your core muscles?

Try this. Stand up and reach down and touch your toes. Get an idea for how tight your hamstrings are. Now massage the trigger points or tender areas in your jaw with your fingertips for 30-60 seconds. Look for tender spots at the front and back of your jaw joints. Now stand back up and touch your toes again.

If you do it correctly, you should notice that your hamstrings are far looser.

Your core muscles began to engage better and your spine began to feel more protected and stopped relying on your hamstrings.

These are some of the minimal effort, maximum benefit strategies that Dr. Jimerson uses to not only resolve acute and chronic sports injuries but to bulletproof them from future injuries as well as to improve their performance far greater than the level that they were at by having them focus of their greatest areas of imbalance.

While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
