Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!
Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis
Do you have shoulder pain lifting your arm?
Does your shoulder feel tight and stiff?
Does your shoulder hurt when you move it?
Do you have dull or achy shoulder pain?
You might have frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis. The main symptoms of frozen shoulder are pain and stiffness that make it difficult or impossible to move it. Typically activities like putting on deodorant and washing your hair and getting dressed become a challenge to the shoulder pain or discomfort. (Surfing, golfing or tennis in Charleston will definitely be limited.)
Often frozen shoulder pain can be worse at night due to the muscles and shoulder capsule cooling down at rest. Sudden shoulder movements can also be particularly painful such as sudden reaching.
Frozen shoulder is often stated to have unknown etiology (they don’t know what causes it) but things like diabetes, thyroid problems, hormonal changes (think menopause), previous shoulder injury, and neck or cervical disc injuries (even if you don’t have neck pain) can also contribute.
Traditional treatments typically involve physical therapy, NSAIDs and Manipulation under Anesthesia ( where they put you under anesthesia and rip the joint free – often requires multiple times under anesthesia) and resolution is thought to occur in 1-2 years.
Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem
The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.
The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.
After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist
Dr. Jimerson has treated and resolved hundreds of stubborn to resolve frozen shoulder cases in his Summerville and Charleston offices over the past 15 years. Some frozen shoulder cases were merely misdiagnosed rotator cuff injuries. Others were neck or cervical disc injuries acting like frozen shoulder cases. Those types resolve in 4-6 treatments with 90% of patients reporting greater range of motion and 90% improvement in pain (depending on severity of case) after the first treatment.
The rest of the cases were true frozen shoulder cases and typically take 2-4 weeks to resolve (depending on severity) with the majority of patients reporting massive range of motion gains and pain relief even after the first visit! (It’s not uncommon for patients to drive from Kiawah Island and Mount Pleasant to our Charleston office for frozen shoulder treatment)
While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
