Why do injuries happen?

Dr. Jeremiah Jimerson

IT’S NOT JUST A MATTER OF TREATING SYMPTOMS, BUT SOLVING YOUR WHY

Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!

DeQuarvain’s Tenosynovitis (thumb and wrist pain)

Do you have pain around the back of your thumb and wrist?

You may have DeQuarvain’s tenosynovitis. This is a particularly painful condition because most movements with the wrist and thumb will result in a sharp sometimes stabbing pain.

Even little things like picking up objects like coffee cups and milk containers and using the bathroom can cause people agony.

Honestly not many people come in with this as an actual diagnosis, but just complaining of wrist and thumb pain.

Wrist or Thumb Pain doing this motion:

is a positive orthopedic test for DeQuarvains.

DeQuarvain’s is causes by scar tissue developing in the thumb abductor and extensor muscles due to repetitive activities. Sometimes repetitive activities that you do on a daily basis or a repetitive activity that was done for a short period of time.

A common cause is also mother’s of young children as they inadvertently can strain the muscles lifting the child up from under their armpits resulting in the mom straining her wrist and thumb area.

Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem

The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.

The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.

After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Dr. Jeremiah is my go to for my patients when all else fails

Dr. Robert Schoderbeck – Orthopedist

I know this sounds crazy… I will fly to Charleston to see him… hands down this guy is a healer

Mo Maynor

Dr. Jimerson is OUTSTANDING! As a clinician myself, I appreciate his direction and encouragement… but mostly the RESULTS!

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist

Dr. Jimerson has treated hundreds of DeQuervain’s cases in his Charleston and Summerville Chiropractic offices over the past 15 years.

Dr. Jimerson begins the treatment by confirming that you do indeed have DeQuervain’s and helps determine which repetitive activities caused the injury in the first place to help the patient avoid or modify them to prevent reoccurrence of the injury.

Dr. Jimerson will do a biomechanical exam of the upper extremity to determine if their are any root cause imbalances that caused the injury in the first place.

From there he often will treat DeQuervain’s with Active Release Technique, a patented myofascial release that breaks scar tissue in muscles, ligaments, tendons and around nerves.

He will also utilize his proprietary pain technique that turns off pain and restores function in seconds resulting in accelerated healing.

Dr. Jimerson sends patients home with 2-4 Physical Therapy exercises meant to resolve the pain in the shortest period of time possible. Orthopedic intervention is almost never needed.

While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
