Why do injuries happen?

Dr. Jeremiah Jimerson

IT’S NOT JUST A MATTER OF TREATING SYMPTOMS, BUT SOLVING YOUR WHY

Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Do you have numb fingers?
Are you dropping everyday household items?
Waking up with numb fingers?

You may have carpal tunnel syndrome.

The carpal tunnel is an anatomical tunnel in your wrist that your median nerve travels through. The median nerve innervates the strength and sensation of your first 3 1/2 fingers.

Repetitive strain injuries are often the cause for carpal tunnel syndrome which is just a fancy way of saying that you’re using the muscles in your wrist and forearm too much.

What most people, even including other therapists like Orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists often don’t realize is that there are a total of 6 different areas going up your arm that the median nerve ( the main nerve that is involved with carpal tunnel syndrome) can get entrapped or caught up in resulting in numb fingers.

What this means is that the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome isn’t always in the carpal tunnel or it can be part in the carpal tunnel and part in other areas including the forearm, chest muscles and even neck muscles, all resulting in numb and sometimes weak fingers.

Often, carpal tunnel syndrome isn’t going to affect your daily activities unless its severe and you notice your tendency to drop everyday household objects. Mild to moderate cases will often notice their fingers being numb immediately when they wake up and can often wake you up due to the numbness in more severe cases.

Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem

The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.

The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.

After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Mo Maynor

Dr. Jimerson is OUTSTANDING! As a clinician myself, I appreciate his direction and encouragement… but mostly the RESULTS!

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist

Dr. Jimerson has treated thousands of carpal tunnel cases in his Charleston and Summerville offices over the past 15 years and helped well over 90% of those patients avoid carpal tunnel surgery.

One of the biggest and most important steps in helping someone resolve carpal tunnel syndrome and avoid carpal tunnel surgery is to determine what repetitive motion caused the issue in the first place.

This is so important because you can be treated for carpal tunnel, but if you’re spending the other 6-10 hours doing the activity at work that caused the injury in the first place it’s not going to resolve as quickly.

You either need to modify whatever activity caused the carpal tunnel in the first place or at least stretch the muscles being affected and causing the carpal tunnel to reduce scarring and relief pressure on the nerve.

Next is determining which of the 6 different areas up your arm the nerve is getting stuck or entrapped and releasing them with Active Release Technique, a patented scar tissue release that has been shown in studies to have over a 90% success rate in treating carpal tunnel syndrome and helping patients avoid painful surgeries.

Often, Dr. Jimerson will use his proprietary pain techniques that can resolve numbness and tingling in seconds.

While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
