Why do injuries happen?

Dr. Jeremiah Jimerson

IT’S NOT JUST A MATTER OF TREATING SYMPTOMS, BUT SOLVING YOUR WHY

Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!

Do you have numb fingers?

Do your fingers go numb when you raise your arms over your head?

Do you have pain or aches in your neck, shoulder, arm and hand?

Are you experiencing weakness in your hand?

You may have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Surprisingly, many people are suffering from mild versions of Thoracic outlet syndrome. Often Thoracic Outlet Syndrome even gets misdiagnosed as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is when blood vessels or nerves get caught up in the space between your collarbone and your first rib. This can cause neck pain and numbness in your fingers.

Common causes of thoracic outlet syndrome include trauma from a car accident, repetitive strain from jobs and daily activities, as well as have an extra rib or being pregnant.

Many people are predisposed to having Thoracic outlet syndrome due to our poor posture as modern human beings.

As modern humans, we spend copious amounts of time in the hunched forward posture. Over time the soft tissue that is in the shortened position stays in the shortened position. It’s a physiological law that soft tissue adapts to stresses placed on it over time meaning the more we slouch or have poor posture, the more the muscles, ligaments, tendons and eventually bone begins to adapt in a way that makes it harder and harder to not have poor posture.

Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem

The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.

The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.

After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Dr. Jeremiah is my go to for my patients when all else fails

Dr. Robert Schoderbeck – Orthopedist

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist

The muscles that become shortened have nerves and blood vessels going through them that slowly begin to get compressed. It only takes the weight of a dime to irritate and cause dysfunction to a nerve. This is thoracic outlet syndrome.

With the soft tissue in the front of the body getting tight, more damage results during injuries like car accidents where tight muscles are forced to stretch rapidly thereby causing injury resulting in thoracic outlet syndrome.

If you have tried to resolve your thoracic outlet syndrome with traditional therapists in Charleston such as Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Physical Therapy, Surgery and Injections you may want to see Dr. Jimerson.

Dr. Jimerson begins each thoracic outlet syndrome treatment with a full biomechnical exam of posture, tight and weak muscles and joint dysfunction to determine the actual root cause of your thoracic outlet syndrome.

From there he utilizes Active Release Technique, a patented advanced myofascial technique that breaks down scar tissue and adhesions in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and around nerves.

He will also use his proprietary pain technique that takes away pain and speeds healing in seconds.

While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
