“After being in the NFL for 13 yrs, I have seen a number of chiropractors. Dr. J is on a whole different level! I seriously drive from Charlotte to see him whenever I get the chance!”
“After a FULL rotator cuff tear and 4 surgeons wanting to OPERATE. I decided not to have the surgery after Dr. J had me out of pain in 2 weeks! 4 years later, I’m STILL PAIN FREE!”
Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!
Do you have pain at the bottom of your foot?
Do you have foot pain when walking or running?
Do you have foot pain first thing in the morning?
Do you have foot pain when getting up from sitting?
One of the biggest characteristics of plantar fasciitis is pain in the bottom of your foot after you haven’t been moving for a period of time. This could include sleeping, sitting and watching tv, driving for a period of time and then WHAM. You get up and start moving and you begin to feel pain at the bottom of the foot.
Essentially what is happening is that the muscles in the bottom of your foot get scar tissue from muscle imbalances and overuse or repetitive strain which cause them to become tight. The tight muscles cool down during rest or when they don’t have to do anything. Movement also helps turn off pain. When you begin to walk again, the tight muscles begin to get micro tears causing inflammation, pain and irritation at the bottom of your foot.
Plantar Fasciitis is literally translated as “inflammation of the fascia on the bottom of your foot.” But what most patients and doctors don’t typically realize is that there’s 4 other layers of muscles that can cause pain deep to the plantar fascia.
Typical treatment for plantar fasciitis is wearing a Strassburg sock at night (which keeps your calf muscles in the stretched position), a boot (same thing but can be worn during the day as well), injections from a podiatrist, as well as physical therapy exercises such as stretching your calf muscles.
Our favorite cases are when you’ve tried every plantar fasciitis treatment in Charleston such as a podiatrist, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic and inserts for your shoes.
Often, if your foot pain just isn’t getting better or you are ready to fix your plantar fasciitis in record time you may need to focus on the root cause of your foot pain.
Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem
The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.
The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.
After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist
One of the biggest causes of plantar fasciitis (especially cases that have failed other therapies) is weaknesses and imbalances in the hip and core muscles around the spine.
It makes sense when we see a case that has tried every treatment for foot pain from the boot or sock, injections, stretching, rolling, massage that the main issue likely isn’t in the foot.
If all therapists are “nuking” the same area without relief then likely that’s not the area causing it.
Often the core or hip imbalance is causing you to shift too much towards the injured side causing more pressure on the injured foot or in some cases you shift away resulting in dragging the injured foot.
Tight and weak hip muscles can pull the pelvis forward resulting in chronically tight calf muscles and ankle joints. Both of which can result in chronic plantar fasciitis and foot pain.
If you’re a runner, or tennis player or athlete often in high impact sports developing plantar fasciitis… imagine poor biomechanics (often caused by fatigue) multiplied by thousands of repetition (Charleston runners and triathletes) can cause plantar fasciitis and foot pain.
Stubborn plantar fasciitis cases can be caused from nerve entrapments as well. The sciatic nerve splits into two nerve before it crosses the knee. One of which is called the tibial nerve that terminates at the bottom of your foot.
The tibial nerve can get mashed in the calf muscles or in the ankle… both of which can also lead to pain at the bottom of the foot. Resulting in foot pain that doesn’t respond to any typical treatments.
90% of our patients report a 90% improvement after their first visit with most cases resolving in 4-6 treatments depending on the severity of the case.
Dr. Jimerson begins each case with a biomechanical exam to determine the root cause of where your plantar fasciitis pain is coming from.
While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
