Why do injuries happen?

Dr. Jeremiah Jimerson

IT’S NOT JUST A MATTER OF TREATING SYMPTOMS, BUT SOLVING YOUR WHY

Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!

Do You Have?

1.) Pain on your achilles tendon?
2.) Heel pain or ankle pain?
3.) Swelling around the Achilles Tendon?

Achilles Tendonitis (tendinitis) is Usually Caused By:

1.) Weak tibialis anterior muscles
2.) tight and or weak hip flexors
3.) poor ankle mobility
4.) core weaknesses that cause you to shift to one side
5.) improper joint mechanics of the knee or hip
6.) Wearing footwear with higher heels (makes your calf muscles shorter)

Achilles Tendonitis (tendinitis) typically begins as a mild ache in the back of the leg or above the heel after running or other sports activities (definitely Crossfit). ( We often treat a lot of Triathletes in my Charleston office and this is a frequent occurance.) More severe pain may occur after extended running, using stairs, long walks (especially on our Charleston beaches) or sprinting.

You might also experience increased pain first thing in the mornings or after extended periods of rest (imagine sitting for a while or getting up in the middle of the night) and it will have a tendency to decrease in pain as you are up and moving around (depending on how inflamed the muscles are).

This injury is pretty easy to treat. We have worked with thousands of achilles injuries since 2004. At our Charleston chiropractic clinic, we evaluate our patients by analyzing the entire kinetic chain of the patient. We don’t focus just on the achilles tendon; we also examine other factors which caused the achilles injury in the first place.

Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem

The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.

The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.

After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Dr. Jeremiah is my go to for my patients when all else fails

Dr. Robert Schoderbeck – Orthopedist

I know this sounds crazy… I will fly to Charleston to see him… hands down this guy is a healer

Mo Maynor

Dr. Jimerson is OUTSTANDING! As a clinician myself, I appreciate his direction and encouragement… but mostly the RESULTS!

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist

Dr. Jimerson starts by analyzing footwear and then progresses to look at the range of motion in the toes, ankle, knee, hip and spine in a functional manner. We look at the elasticity of other surrounding muscles, the patient’s core, activation of the gluteus muscles, just to name a few.

We typically start out treatment using Active Release Technique ( a patented myofascial release), along with taping and Dr. Jimerson’s proprietary Dural (neck) Stretch which engages core muscles and loosens the hamstrings by 20-40 degrees. We finish treatment showing minimal effort, maximum benefit physical therapy exercises to be done at home.

One of the best things about our treatments is how fast it can get results. In our experience, the majority of achilles tendon injuries resolve completely within 4-6 treatments with over an 80% reduction in pain after the first visit. (Each case is unique and there are several factors that determine the length of time each condition resolves). These results are the main reason why Dr. Jimerson has worked with so many elite athletes and professional sports teams as well as chronic pain patients)

While we are a chiropractic office, our main focus is muscles and soft tissue. While we are very versed in chiropractic manipulation, it’s just a tool, like a screwdriver and you cannot build an entire house with just a screwdriver. Our soft tissue treatments focus on eliminating the cause of the pain, rather than covering up the symptoms.

If you suffer from sports injuries such as Achilles tendon pain, don’t wait, contact our active release chiropractic clinic today at 843-873-6004, to see how Dr. Jeremiah can help you.
