Why do injuries happen?

Dr. Jeremiah Jimerson

IT’S NOT JUST A MATTER OF TREATING SYMPTOMS, BUT SOLVING YOUR WHY

Far too many people waste time and money chasing symptoms. Getting adjustments, countless physical therapy hours, stretching and foam rolling, injections and surgeries while never getting true clarity about WHY their pain happened in the first place – this needs to STOP!

Do you have pain while playing tennis?

Do you have pain after playing tennis?

Are you suffering from tennis elbow?

Do you have shoulder pain during or after tennis?

Are you ready to fix all of your tennis injuries and improve your tennis performance on the court?

Charleston is home to some amazing tennis players and tennis tournaments.

With the amazing weather in Charleston, it’s no wonder that people love to play tennis and other racquet sports like Squash, Racquetball and Pickleball year round.

That being said, tennis injuries are rampant and Dr. Jimerson has treated and resolved THOUSANDS of Tennis Injuries over the past 15 years at his Summerville and Charleston Chiropractic offices.

One of the biggest things that makes tennis players prone to injury is that like many racquet sports, it is often a unilateral activity. Meaning players easily and often overuse muscles on one side of the body.

One of the most common tennis injuries is Tennis Elbow or Lateral Epicondylitis which is pain at the outside of the elbow.

This occurs due to the impact forces of the ball and the racquet and the absorption of those forces on the extensor tendons repeatedly creating scar tissue and adhesions in those muscles.

Scar tissue and adhesions developing in a muscle is like putting a bunch of staples in a rubber band. The muscle are the rubber band and the scar tissue is the staples.

Muscles need to stretch and if you stretch your rubber band with staples, you begin to tear the rubber band all around where it doesn’t stretch (staples). This results in cumulative micro-injuries to the elbow muscles. Resultant is those micro-injuries are met with even more scar tissue.

Over time the muscle or rubber band develops enough scar tissue that it become tight and doesn’t absorb forces the same. It begins to put pressure on nerve and other tissue in the elbow. It begins to put pressure on the elbow joints because the muscles have lost their stretch. This results in pain and a tennis elbow diagnosis.

Another common tennis injury is shoulder pain.

Most of us have poor shoulder balance due to the fact that we as modern humans spend the majority of our time in the hunched forward posture.

We hunch forward when we eat, watch tv, read, do computer work, use our cellphone, drive and more.

There is a physiological law that states that soft tissue adapts to stresses placed on it over time. Meaning all of the repeated hunching causes all the muscles that work to pull our shoulders and neck forward to adapt into the shortened position.

This is bad news for the shoulder and studies show the muscles and ligaments begin to adapt in the shoulder causing chronic shoulder issues, rotator cuff tears and strains and poor shoulder performance.

Treating symptoms is one thing, finding the root cause of those symptoms SOLVES the problem

The world of pain relief is filled with marketing and massive amounts of myopic thinking. This chiropractor says “a bone is out of place,” that physical therapy office says “just do this 10 pages of exercises” and often the medical approach is to medicate, inject, or cut – sadly, that’s the world that we live in and unlike this website it’s not all black and white.

The fact is, treating symptoms will never result in permanent relief. It’s like duct taping a leaky ceiling. It might look good for a hot minute, but it doesn’t take that long before you wish you hired a better contractor.

After being in the pain and performance world for 20 plus years, my focus today is providing immediate relief, but also being the detective that leaves no stone unturned of showing you how to keep it that way.

Dr. Jeremiah is my go to for my patients when all else fails

Dr. Robert Schoderbeck – Orthopedist

I know this sounds crazy… I will fly to Charleston to see him… hands down this guy is a healer

Mo Maynor

Dr. Jimerson is OUTSTANDING! As a clinician myself, I appreciate his direction and encouragement… but mostly the RESULTS!

Priscilla Nugent – Physical Therapist

Dr. Jimerson begins each treatment of tennis injuries and tennis performance evaluating the biomechanics of the entire body. Which muscles are tight, which joints don’t move appropriately, and which areas are weak. This allows us to treat tennis injuries in record time while at the same time improving tennis performance. From there he will often begin the treatment with Active Release Technique, a patented advanced myofascial release that breaks down scar tissue and adhesions in muscles, ligaments, tendons and around nerves. Restoring function and resolving pain issues rapidly. From there, he will often use his proprietary pain technique to turn off pain and speed healing of muscles and nerves in seconds. The more elastic and strong the soft tissue, the more speed and accuracy you can put on the ball, the better the tennis player you will become, all while limiting your injuries. While Dr. Jimerson has been voted best chiropractor in Charleston, he doesn’t necessarily look at things from a chiropractic perspective and thus avoids unnecessary chiropractic adjustments and x-rays. It is this methodology and his ability to look at injuries from an outside the box perspective that Charleston Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and other Chiropractors routinely refer complex and unfixable pain cases to him.
